matte designed for the mat

The Niyama Collection is a collaboration between Niyama Yoga Shalas & matte porcelain design. It's a true partnership between two women who love jewelry, have a deep commitment to yoga and both own their own businesses.

Carrie Norin, owner and designer of matte porcelain design, was born and raised in New Jersey. Her idea for matte was born from an appreciation for modern organic style rooted in a philosophy of slow and sustainable fashion. A trained evolutionary biologist, Carrie's jewelry aesthetic is rooted in science- balancing clean lines of modern geometry with the organic imperfection of nature-

Carrie has been practicing yoga for a large portion of her life, but became a member at Niyama Yoga Shalas this past year.  She found herself so inspired by the true meaning of yoga, as presented by Niyama:  balance, breath, focus and harmony with nature that she and Nicole became quick friends with a mutual respect for each other's business models.  Nicole too, loves jewelry, but especially jewelry that is wearable in her industry, which is not easy to find.  As soon as she began to embrace Carrie's vision and wear the jewels inspired by Niyama, she was hooked!  The Niyama Collection is lightweight with no rough edges, making it easy to wear both on and off the mat.
